Athena's Great Danes
CH EDISTO HELLO DOLLY
Dolly is named after my mother Dolly Dimples Legare Coleman. Dolly wears it well because she is gentle, kind and very loving as is my mother. Her temperment is the greatest. Anyone who meets Dolly wants a companion just like her. I WILL TELL THEM THAT COMES FROM ALOT OF LOVE AND TIME WELL SPENT.
July 29 2007 I will never forget it.
Dolly was entered in the dog show for all 3 days but Ben, her brother a 10yr old English Mastiff, became ill and we could not go friday or saturday. Saturday night he seemed to be doing better and Sunday morning he ate and drank on his own so we decided to go to Greenville to the show. Dolly was beautiful. It was as if she knew she must do well and she did. She took Winners Bitch with such poise and when she went back into the ring with all those champions she did not blink. The judge pointed at her giving her Best of Winners and back at her with so much excitement shouting and Best of Opposite Sex! A 5 point Major making her a new AKC Champion. Many thanks go to her handler Darlene Bergan. Darlene was a guiding force in Dolly's transformation from a dane to a Champion.
My cell phone rang. It was home, Ben had taken a turn for the worse. I turned to Darlene and told her what was going on with Ben and I had to go home. What Darlene said to me, I could not get out of my mind. She told me that Ben had been a great friend for 10yrs and to do what I had to and not let him suffer. I did . Monday morning Ben left us but he gave his sis one of the greatest moments of her life. We will miss him but his story will live on.
